In fact on an iPad using Speedtest.Had TPG profile pre-loaded for VDSL, super fast, v.happy with choice. NBN Modem Routers ISP Settings.

Seems everyone is getting 2-day turnaround for installation except me :(There's the Fritz!Box 7490 which is supposed to have better VDSL2 support.
Any cheap modem recommendations as the Asus one mentioned is about $279, which was not factored in as a cost of moving to the FTTB.I replaced my Huawei with a cheap TP-Link TD-9970 that cost me $81 on eBay.I do rather like the Fritz and dislike the Huawei so am quite interested in alternative modems. there must be a reason they are routing that way......... You would think it was a fixable problem looking at the tracerts from the other post. I have a VPN setup at home so that I can VPN into my home network and fix things that don't work from offsite itself. I have the new FTTB service from TPG active and have tried both the supplied Huawei modem and my Fritz Box 7390 which is meant to be suitable to VDSL2. posted 2014-Nov-9, 6:46 pm AEST
FritzBox 7390 here — no problem with full speeds.

Call Rates . menu Whirlpool Go to navigation. Whirlpool. They kept stating that the only way to do it was to use the supplied Huawei (hg658) modem. You'll need to input your address in TPG's address checker before you sign up for a plan.

A whirlpool post here goes into more detail: TPG's FTTB plans are only available to very specific addresses in metropolitan areas. Hi, I recently posted about high latency starting at around 7PM on TPG FTTB, with games constantly disconnecting etc etc.
The Huawei has not arrived yet.
The Huawei is only 4 port and 100Mbit.

Does the Huawei modem support inbound connections? You mention "decrypting" the config file – the config file i downloaded was in Mandarin – not something I can decrypt.... How did you go about with your setup?? Where you purchase equipment from TPG as a consumer within the meaning of the Competition and Consumer Act, 2010, that Act creates certain warranties which will apply in respect of the equipment. I eventually managed to get it working by discovering that the the SIP registrar of uni-v1.tpg.com.au was only accessible through VLAN 6 and managing to first decrypt the supplied router's backup file and then decrypting the VOIP password from that.Hey Brett, just got my Wondercom FTTB with VoIP and experiencing the same issues with getting any help from these guys as far as configuring VoIP on my 7490 (that huawei is a joke!!).

Firewall seems pretty limited, with only two settings, Low = block all inbound, allow all outbound, and High = block all inbound, allow only FTP/DNS/HTTP/HTTPS/IGMP outbound.
